The Commission of Integrity Member: I am Corrupt, So Are All Iraqi Politicians

COI member Misha’an al-Juburi
Misha’an al-Juburi, an Iraqi controversial politician in the (The Commission of Integrity Member) COI governmental body in Iraq, set off a political bomb in front of everyone with his latest confession to have received millions of dollars in bribe, and his accusation of all Iraqi politicians with corruption.
In a recent broadcast, al-Juburi said that the whole political strata in Iraq is corrupt, and act under the impulse of bribery. Moreover, he admitted to have received a bribe of millions of dollars from a corrupt figurehead in exchange of keeping the matter hidden. However, al-Juburi carried on with revealing the case file rather than keeping it buried underground.
The declaration resulted in sizable commotion striking the Iraqi public, nevertheless it was met with utter insignificance by political figureheads and parties participating in the parliament and government.
In a statement, al-Juburi told Asharq Al-Awsat that his receipt of a bribe and his admission to it is only a part of what he had said, clarifying that the purpose of the whole broadcast is to unmask all the corruption going on in the country.
Al-Juburi said that he aimed to make a point with his confession, and excused receiving the bribe to the ruthless nature of politics in his country, in which corruption leads the Iraqi political atmosphere.
Nonetheless al-Juburi with his statement wanted to bravely prove the current status of all politicians, disregarding the jeopardy he could be putting himself in after divulging this sort of information.
Al-Juburi argued that he could have remained silent and no one would have the slightest evidence against him, however, he chose to overlook his best interest for the sake of truth.
At the end, the self-condemned politician hoped for everyone to have a better insight on the wider picture, and aimed for corruption and the effort of extinguishing it from Iraq to be the case to deal with.
