WHO demands space to finish Gaza polio vaccination

The World Health Organization (WHO) on Wednesday urged Israel to ensure the necessary conditions to finish the job of vaccinating Gaza's children against polio, after reaching more than 150,000 with the required second dose.Despite continuing Israeli military operations in some areas of the Palestinian territory, the second round of a polio vaccination campaign, aiming to reach more than 590,000 children under the age of 10, got under way on Monday.

UN peacekeepers say Israel fired on Lebanon HQ, injuring 2

UN peacekeepers in Lebanon said Israeli fire on their headquarters in the south Thursday left two Blue Helmets injured, as they accused Israel of "repeatedly" hitting their positions.Italy and Ireland, which have troops in the mission, called the shooting unacceptable.It is the most serious incident reported by the mission since it said last week it had rejected Israeli demands to "relocate" from some of its positions.
