This weekend, we went for a day trip to a place called Wadi Shab. A wadi is a valley where there’s water and more greenery than most places.
We had to take a little boat from one end of a small lake to the other so we could start the 45 minute hike to the wadi.
It was a short little ride but we managed to collide with the other boat in that little amount of time. The picture above was taken from our boat which was headed straight for the boat in the picture. I guess the one guy didn’t notice us and our guy thought they might pass before we hit them…nope.
Our driver turned to the side before we spearheaded the other boat. No one went overboard, no one got hurt, so no problem.
After we got dropped on the other side, we started off on what we thought wouldn’t be that bad of a hike. It turned out to be a little more rigorous than we had thought, mostly because we had to clamber over a lot of big boulders.
It was definitely worth it once we got there though.
I didn’t have my camera at our actual destination but I have a few pictures of the wadi before the main area.
We came back to that spot at the end and jumped off the little cliff. The cliff was probably 20 feet high, which may not seem like a lot but looking down was a little scary. I’m afraid of heights so I didn’t spend much time looking down, I just went, and it was a lot of fun.

(Jumping off the cliff was fun. I’m conquering my fears, one cliff jump at a time)
This little area below was right before the main area
By the main area, I just mean the destination, the end of the wadi. At the end there was some nice swimming; the water was cooler and there were little ledges you could sit on. There was also a little tunnel/cave which led to an area shaded by the larger rocks and which had a waterfall in it. It was really pretty and really refreshing.
It was a short day trip but it was fun. I love hiking and if you get to jump in some cool water on, during, and after the hike, even better!
