When Hayat Tahrir al-Sham was first established, it taught its members the approach of prominent jihadist ideologue Abu Mohammad al-Maqdisi, whom it held at high esteem and consulted in many of its ideological matters. But, a few days ago, it announced severing ties with him and recanting his ideology.
